Who is Tim?

Act 1 - A Boy Between Worlds

I grew up between Caracas, Venezuela and New Jersey. Two languages. Two cultures. Two ways of seeing the world.

At the time, I didn’t know what it all meant, but being bilingual and bicultural gave me a strange kind of double vision: the ability to adapt, to empathize, to notice things most people would miss.

Act II – Building in New Places

At Wheaton College, I threw myself into ideas. I studied political science, philosophy, and economics while wrestling NCAA. The classroom sharpened my mind while the mat toughened my resolve. I even founded a student group because I learned some ideas weren’t just worth studying, they are worth fighting for.

I couldn’t have known it then, but that instinct — to take an abstract idea and make it real — would become the thread of my career.

Next came Washington, D.C. where I worked with George Mason University to build one of the most innovative online educational programs of its time, producing films, running campaigns, and learning how to transform the abstract into the real. I learned video production, digital marketing, and how to grow small teams into creative powerhouses.

That foundation launched me into the startup world. At Klink Technologies, I rose from community director to Chief Marketing Officer, partnering with brands like AB InBev, Nestlé, and Total Wine & More culminating in Klink’s acquisition by Delivery.com.

Later, as CMO of CoBuy Inc., I helped democratize homeownership by building a platform for families and friends to purchase homes together securely and efficiently.

At the same time, I helped found the Film School at Universidad Francisco Marroquín (UFM) in Guatemala, teaching in both English and Spanish, producing short films, and mentoring students who went on to create projects all over the world.

Each step taught me how to turn complexity into clarity and how to use storytelling to scale ideas into movements.

Act III - The Now, and What Comes Next

Today, I lead Motivo Media, the creative agency I co-founded in 2017. We transform complex ideas into powerful media, helping nonprofits, brands, agencies and startups amplify their impact. Our work has taken us from Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle to the border of Venezuela-Colombia, from working with major health care organizations to furthering human rights.

Along the way, I’ve collaborated with global brands like Google, Amazon, BBC, Meta, and Cisco, with projects featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Wired, TechCrunch, and more.

As a filmmaker, I’ve partnered with the Moving Picture Institute (MPI) to direct and produce stories that shape culture. Projects include The Art of Inflation, and Project Home: 3D Printing the Future. I recently started my newest feature documentary Touching the Sky, the first film about Acro Yoga. I’ve even had the honor of collaborating on a Joaquin Phoenix short to bring urgent issues to life through explainer media.

When I look back at the boy crossing borders between Caracas and New Jersey, the student fighting for ideas, the scrapy startup marketer, the film school co-founder, it makes a lot more sense now.

The through-line has always been the same: stories. They make sense of chaos. They turn walls into bridges. They move people to act.

And here’s where you come in. Act III isn’t mine alone.

You’re here.

The first question is:

What story can we tell that outlives us both?
